Recent times are seeing a lot of speculation in terms of 4G speed. Speed is not served as promised by the company. And a lot of customers are losing hope in the services claiming that the speed is deteriorating day by day. With 6.2 Mbps as average country-wide speed, Jio stands fifth in 4G speeds.
Hearing all the complaints, Reliance Jio has come up with a new APN setting for JIO that will bring back that beast speed of 4G which was promised initially. So here’s how you can restore your actual 4G speed on your Jio sim with a new APN launched by the company. Let’s dive into it. This will be a step-by-step guide to setting your new APN for JIO4G, stay tuned.
Reliance has released the latest APN settings for Jio. If you are looking for the best APN setting for JIO, this is the post you’ll ever need. I have applied these APN settings on my handset and the result has been fantastic so far. Also, I have been traveling a lot this year, and the results have been pretty good. I won’t consider this as the best but considering the amount of traveling I’ve done, this result is way better.
Reliance JIO APN settings for Android users
- Go to settings
- Find Mobile networks (under sim settings or ‘more’ option)
- Select Access Point Name under JIO 4G.
- Tap on add (+) icon on your top right of the screen. (do not delete the existing one, until you successfully save the new one)
- In the name field, you can add anything.
- In APN field enter jionet (all small letters)
- Set the server to www.jio.com
- Depending upon your device, MNC value would vary. Let it be whatever it is.
- Change authentication type to None
- APN type should be “default, xcap”. I’d suggest doubling check this as this is the most important setting that will be recognized by the JIO server and hence providing the latest speeds and uninterrupted services.
- APN protocol & APN roaming protocol should be IPv4.
- Bearer should be set to LTE only and nothing else.
- MVNO type should be SPN. (There are mixed reviews for this. So try keeping the field empty and have SPN. Either of these will work for sure, depending on a number of factors)
- MVNO value should be Jio 4G. That’s capital J & G and rest small letters.
- Tap on Save, restart your device, and once it’s done. You’re good to go with the seamless speed that was promised by Reliance Jio.

Speedtest of NEW Reliance JIO APN settings
This will surely work. Due to technical glitches, Jio services went further down the line, this APN setting has restored all those bugs and speed is fizzling fast. Try this on your device, I’m sure you’ll want to share this APN update with your friends having Jio sim too.
See the speed test result below. I have tested in the noon when people generally browse the web. In this peak hour, the speed is really great.

Common FAQs for Reliance JIO APN settings
#1 Do you need to set your phone any specific settings in order to access the internet?
For Android phones, the following settings should be carried out –
- SIM Card to be placed in LTE enables SIM Slot only.
- You should opt Jio for using the internet
- Choose Jio network to route the internet on your device
- Make sure mobile data is on and data limit is off
- Keep the data ‘ON’ while roaming for uninterrupted service.
For the iPhone, just keep the data ‘ON’. Your device is smart enough to take care of the rest. You’ve made a good choice 😉
#2 Is signal strength a deciding factor for good internet speeds?
A stronger signal indicates better signal strength and not necessarily signal quality. Internet speed is a function of various parameters, like the website being accessed, number of users in parallel. You might get good internet speeds even at the low signal strength, depending on these parameters.
#3 What activities, apps, and services are likely to use high 4G data?
- Streaming HD videos of music
- Uploading/downloading large files
- Syncing in background
- Apps that require a continuous internet connection
- Online games
- OS update
#4 What is MVNO type in the APN settings for Jio?
MVNO type stands for a Mobile Virtual Network Operator(MVNO), Virtual Network Operator(VNO), or Mobile Other Licensed Operator(MOLO). It is a wireless communication service provider that doesn’t actually own a mobile network.
In case you find the speed to be slow, you can look for these high usage factors and opt to pause it for high speed.
